Thanks to each of you for your help in raising money for Jump Rope For Heart. Â Students enjoyed being able to jump rope during P.E. classes, as well as, participating in something even larger.
To date we have raised $1,377.59 for the American Heart Association!  That is fabulous and amazing for a school our size!  We may be small in number, but we know we have the biggest hearts of all when it comes to helping others out!  Congratulations to the 4th Grade classes.  They raised $467 which was the most by any grade level.  They are the winners of a free P.E. time!
Congratulations to Grace Fravel our FRES spelling bee winner!!  Also, congratulations to Tyler Rhodes, the runner up. Grace will represent FRES at the county spelling bee January 21st at Wilbur Pence Middle School at 7:00 pm. Best of luck to Grace as she competes in the next round!

According to the website, “The Virginia School Report Card provides transparent information about the performance of Virginia’s schools. School accreditation and federal accountability ratings for a specific school year are based on student achievement on tests taken during the previous academic year.” While the document is rather lengthy, you may want to check this out and see how we did as a school.
Directions are as follows:Â schoolreportcard
Congratulations are in order to several of our FRES ‘family’. Â Last night Mrs. Tracy Borror was recognized as our Volunteer of the Year. Â ’Miss Tracy’, as she is known around here, volunteers in our lower grade levels helping out with a variety of activities and tasks. Â Thank you, Miss Tracy, for all of your help!!
Also recognized last night at the school board meeting held here at Fulks Run Elementary were two fifth grade students. Â Grace Fravel and Isaac Funkhouser were presented with the Kelley Coggsdale Character Counts Award. Â Both students are well deserving of this recognition!
Today we were honored to have 14 veterans from the community come and join students for lunch. Â They were introduced by Dr. Wenger and then each of them shared a little bit about his/her time in the service. Â Thanks to each of you for taking time to come to FRES today and for your service to our country.
