Becky Lam, Social Studies teacher at East Rockingham High School, was awarded the distinguished title of Gold Star Teacher for her students’ outstanding performance on a Financial Literacy Certification Tests in the 2010-2011 school year.

Earning Gold Star status means that 90% or more of the students in one or more of Mrs. Lam’s classes passed the Certification Test administered by W!Se, the New York-based company Working in Support of Education. W!Se is an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to providing educational support services nationwide.

“[This award] shows an outstanding ability to help students become Certified Financially Literate™,” praised David J. Anderson, Executive Vice President of W!Se.

Dr. Kelly Troxell, RCPS Director of Career and Technical Education, offered her praise of Mrs. Lam’s and her students’ efforts, “This is quite an accomplishment during our first year of participation!”
