LEES Staff Travels to White House

On Monday, October 17, Karen Thomsen, principal, Sherwin Tusing, PE teacher, Anne Garrett, cafeteria manager, and Shari Suttles, school nurse from Linville-Edom Elementary School traveled to the White House for a reception put together by First Lady Michelle Obama to honor US Healthier School Challenge Gold Award winners.   Over 2,000 educators from across the country represented the 1,638 schools that have achieved this distinction.  The US Healthier School Challenge is an initiative by the First Lady to combat childhood obesity by creating healthier school lunch choices, increasing activity levels of students and providing for nutrition education.
