Welcome to the Ottobine Elementary School homepage! Please view the links provided relevant to our students, staff, educational sites and the history of our school.
Ottobine Elementary is a fully accredited school in accordance with both state and national standards for student performance. While meeting and exceeding assessment requirements is a top priority for the staff, Ottobine offers a variety of opportunities to foster the development of the whole child.
Students participate in Health and Physical Education, music, art, library, Challenge, and other special programs throughout the entire school year. Reading challenges, economic projects, and “Family Literacy Nights” are a few of the highlighted opportunities for both students and families. Also, during the school day a number of OES children participate in collaborative learning settings with students from Turner Ashby High School, James Madison University, Bridgewater College, and with the gracious mentors from Big Brothers/Big Sisters. All OES students benefit from these invaluable partnerships.
Extensive after-school programs that offer a variety of activities are implemented throughout the school year. One of the programs is directed by the Rockingham Parks and Recreation Department. This program extends from the 3:00 PM dismissal time until 6:00 PM parent pick-up. Several academic tutorial programs are also available to all students.
Again, the staff and community welcome you not only to our homepage but hope that you will visit our school and share in the many successes of our students.
