On Monday, February 18th, many of our students competed in the District VI Skills USA competition held at Valley Vo-Tech in Fishersville. MTC students competed against students from area technical centers and came out on top!
We had 57 medal winners with 37 of them going on to the Skills USA State Conference to be held in Roanoke on April 20. Hopefully, we’ll have quite a few of our talented students going on to nationals.
Pictured at left: MTC Electricity II students, Justin Craun (TAHS, in hat), Austin Stutzman (BHS, red shirt) and Hunter Emswiler (BHS, kneeling) competed in Residential Wiring during the District Conference. Justin won first place and is going on to state competition!

On Friday, March 1st, the SHS Future Educators Association Club members and other SHS students joined the RCEA for Read Across America, the national celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday to help Valley children celebrate his birthday. SHS students read to the children and shared some birthday treats as they enjoyed the stories of one of the most important authors and promoters of literacy.

February 1st, Broadway High School’s CIC club held their 4th annual PINK OUT to benefit the American Cancer Society. It was an awesome event as usual, but this year there was a little twist! Students and members of the community banned together, using technology, and created Rockingham’s first FlashMob ever! Even though it snowed that day and school was cancelled, it still was a night to remember!
