Prom Anti-Drinking Promotion

Blazer upperclassmen were part of an awareness exercise Thursday at Spotswood.  Rockingham County Sheriff, Fire and Rescue Departments staged a drama re-enactment of a drunk driving accident.  Resource officer and former Blazer Matt Cross took the lead on the project.  SHS drama students were the actors.  Stay Alive Blazers! Tech Ed Classes are Top Notch!

Tech Ed. teacher Mr. Bauer is impressed with his classes this year.  He has this to say: “What a class this year!  This years group of students have great work ethics.  This is the 4th (of 5) full size structure the Construction Tech class has built this year.  They have custom built a 12×24 shed with storage lofts, this 10×16 custom shed w/ storage lofts, a ticket booth for our SHS softball team, an outhouse for a cabin in West Virginia and they are also finishing a 12×16 shed (expected to be done the end of the month). Very impressive set of kids!

Failes Tennis Complex Dedicated

The Failes Tennis Complex has been dedicated in honor of Bob and Linda Failes-long time tennis coaches at SHS.  School officials and tennis patrons celebrated the event at the courts.

Coach Linda Failes, will retire at the end of the school year. She has led the Blazers to 17 district and four regional championships and a state title in 1987 and has a career record of 397-87 — an 82.0 winning percentage.

Exam Schedule for June 2012

  •  Friday, June 1—2nd and 4th period exams for seniors in class
  •  Monday, June 4—7th period exam in class
  •  Tuesday, June 5—5th and 6th period exams
  •  Wednesday, June 6—1st and 3rd period exams
  •  Thursday, June 7—2nd and 4th period exams for underclassmen

Also, Seniors and those attending Graduation… Graduation will be at JMU on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 7:00 PM .

There is not a limi t on the number of guests you can bring. Seniors- graduation Practice will be on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 8:00 AM until noon.
