BOYS’ BASKETBALL VICTORY – 11/28/2012

The boys’ basketball teams both defeated Amherst on the road last night. JV won 59-39. Varsity was 63-58. This was a great program win and both teams are now 1-0 to start their season. Varsity boys play at half the EMHS tournament Friday and Saturday at 6:00 P.M.

 

Academic Team (Scholastic Bowl) – 11/27/2012

The Scholastic Bowl team swept Spotswood and Lee last night. With a record of 5-1, the team is in first place at the one-third mark of the season. A special shout-out to Mrs. Hammill who witnessed her first-ever Scholastic Bowl match last night.

Latin Convention – November 2012

Seven TAHS Latin students attended the Virginia Latin Convention in Richmond.  Congratulations to Caleb Hurst for placing in three academic tests; Caleb Gum and Sam Hurst for finishing 2nd in the costume contest; Paul Dixon for coming in 10th for story telling; Teresa Wright for placing 8th for her mosaic and 6th for her cartoon; Kate Penney for placing 6th for her verb chart; and Robyn Carrier for placing 7th for her illustrated quotation. Great job!

 

Prom Planning Begins!

Attention Juniors

Are you interested in serving on the Prom Committee to help plan this year’s prom?  We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 28th right after school in room 243, Mrs. Blair’s room.  If you are interested in being on the committee but can’t attend, please stop by Mrs. Blair’s room some other time. Junior Class officers: please plan to attend, or see Mrs. Blair if you cannot.

SkillsUSA Needy Family Project

Starting today (11/14/12) during lunch, SkillsUSA is asking for any donation to help our Needy Family Project.  This helps us to provide items that are needed by a local family.  Please give any extra change during this Thanksgiving season for those who need a little extra help.

Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team which opened the season with dominant wins over Robert E. Lee and Fort Defiance high schools. Caleb Gum, Caleb Hurst, Ciera Killen and Rebecca Mullins led the squad. (11/12/12)

 The TA boys cross country team finished 12th overall in the State AA meet this past weekend. Every TA runner set a personal best time.

All two hundred children have been sponsored!

TAHS DECA is once again collecting gifts for needy children in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County area.  If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please stop by Room 104 or send an email to Mrs. Melissa Talley.  If you do not have time to shop, we will take a monetary donation and do the shopping for you.
