About WordPress in Rockingham County Public Schools

23-wordpress_logo-150x150You may be familiar with WordPress.com. It’s a popular online platform, a competitor to Google’s Blogger, used to publish blog or even full websites. WordPress is a terrific way to create an easy, professional-looking site to use as an instructional and communication tool in your classroom.

As of fall 2009, RCPS has its own WordPress server whose purpose is to host blogs and websites created by Rockingham County Public Schools teachers, staff, and students. No more need for WordPress.com or Blogger.com any longer if you’re in RCPS!

Thanks to Joe Lipscomb, who set up the server and keeps it all running for us!

Establishing an Account

If you want to create your own blog/site on our server, follow these steps:

  1. Contact Stephanie Failes in the RCPS Technology Department to request an account.
  2. Once your account is created, the blog server will generate and send to you an email to reveal your login link, username, and temporary password.
  3. Open the link offered in the email. Enter the username and password provided, as well, to log in.
